Traffic Jam Free Bliss Balls

Those first couple of weeks are a bit of a ... traffic jam. Let's put all shame aside, if you've just had bub chances are you'll be constipated for possibly a few days maybe even more than a week. Uncomfortably for me it was 10 days and up until 2 months postpartum it was still an every couple of day celebration in my bathroom. Don't stress though, it is completely normal (unless it's becoming painful and it's been a couple of weeks, then you should see your health care practitioner). Constipation postpartum can be caused by a number of things, high levels of progesterone and pain relief drugs may be contributing factors, and your digestive system also slows down dramatically during labour, however chances are we're probably just scared of enduring more pain.


Okay, so you're sitting there reading this thinking, "and if labour wasn't going to be tough enough you're now telling me I've got to deal with being constipated!?"

Good news is, I've recently thrown together this AMAZING bliss ball recipe. I used to be addicted to them, always creating new ones however nuts weren't agreeing with Rex (which were my main ingredient) so until recently I hadn't given them anymore thought. Finally I decided to part with the nuts and it just so happened I also parted with some of the … unnecessary traffic jam as well.


TRAFFIC JAM FREE BLISS BALLS

1 cup dates, seeds removed
1 cup dried apricots
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 tablespoon coconut cream
2 teaspoons cacao
1/4 cup of desiccated coconut for rolling balls in

Pop all the ingredients into your blender and process away until it all comes together, roll into balls, splash some desiccated coconut on them and voilà! 


Just maybe don't eat all of them at once. And they're not exactly the ideal party food, unless you've got a room full of new mums :P
